Katie Grosteffon, B.S., M.S., AEP

Katie Grosteffon, Associate Consultant and Ergonomics Advisor for Humantech, is stationed in Houston, TX, for a long-term project with BP America. As an ergonomic advisor, she provides personalized ergonomic assessments, adjusts office workstations, and recommends ergonomic products.

Katie graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Sciences, with a focus on Biomedical Engineering. As an undergraduate, Katie was accepted to the General Motors Sullivan Fellowship Program.  She was placed at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck facility, where she provided support for an area-wide work standardization project. As part of her fellowship, she evaluated corporate social justice principles at GM and presented her findings at the Renaissance Center in Detroit, MI.  For her senior thesis, Katie designed a child seat buckle monitoring system.

Katie received her Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration in Ergonomics from the University of Michigan. As a graduate student, Katie conducted research at the University of Michigan Center for Ergonomics. Her research included the development and implementation of a virtual assembly line to study the effect of variations in paced assembly work on risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders of the upper limb. Her other graduate coursework includes an ergonomic assessment of a small Michigan business and a redesign of the LinkedIn website. She has achieved recognition as an Associate Ergonomics Professional.
