Blake McGowan, Managing Consultant and Ergonomics Engineer for Humantech, helps companies achieve best-in-class results by implementing workplace improvements that increase productivity, enhance product quality, and reduce injuries and illnesses. With over 10 years of experience, Blake has facilitated thousands of employee-driven continuous improvement projects and hundreds of complex product design and manufacturing solutions. His clients include Procter & Gamble, Valero Energy, Tyson Foods, John Deere, Whirlpool, ChevronPhillips Chemical, ConocoPhillips, Medtronic, Kuwait National Petroleum Company and British Petroleum.
Blake is closely involved with Humantech’s internal continuous improvement processes. He led the development of Humantech's Baseline Risk Identification of Ergonomic Factors™ (BRIEF) and BRIEF Exposure Scoring Technique™ (BEST) assessment tools, its Risk Priority Management™ (RPM) software, as well as the Handbook of Ergonomic Design Guidelines. He has also been an invited speaker on ergonomics topics at the Applied Ergonomics Conference, the American Society of Safety Engineers Conference, the American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition, the American Petroleum Institute Conference, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers Conference.
Blake received a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and a Master of Science degree in Biomechanics from the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario. In addition, he has received Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Certification from the University of Michigan. He has achieved recognition as a Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE), and is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), and the AIHA Ergonomics Committee.
